PE and Sports Premium
Sports Premium is designed to help children get an active start in life, supporting primary schools to improve the quality of their PE, physical activity/literacy, and sport provision so that pupils experience the benefits of regular exercise.
This funding is provided jointly by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport and is ring fenced. Therefore, it can only be spent on provision of PE and sports in school. The school wants to ensure that this money is used to enable our pupils to have increased opportunities to participate in sport, to attain well and to reach their full potential. Please see the Holton Sports Premium Report.
In our school, PE and sport funding has been spent on hiring specialist PE teachers, who have worked alongside our staff to improve PE teaching across the school. They have worked with Pixies, Dragons, Phoenix and Chimera. As well as developing staff skills, their task is to build pupil self-esteem and enjoyment in PE and raise attainment. These specialist PE teachers have also led after-school enrichment activities.
