The Sports Premium is additional funding provided to schools for the academic years 2013 / 2014 and 2014 / 2015 to improve the provision of Physical Education (PE) and sport in Primary Schools. This funding is provided jointly by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport and is ring fenced. Therefore, it can only be spent on provision of PE and sports in school. The school wants to ensure that this money is used to enable our pupils to have increased opportunities to participate in sport, to attain well and to reach their full potential.
- In the academic years 2013 to 2014 our school received £8,390.
- In the academic years 2014 to 2015 our school received £8,415.
- In the academic years 2015 to 2016 our school received £8,375.
- In the academic years 2016 to 2017 our school received £8,410.
In our school, PE and sport funding has been spent on hiring specialist PE teachers (Sport X-tra and Elite Teaching) who have worked alongside our staff to improve PE teaching across the school. They have worked with Eagles, Kestrels and Red Kites. As well as developing staff skills, their task is to build pupil self-esteem and enjoyment in PE and raise attainment. These specialist PE teachers have also led after-school enrichment activities.
Working alongside our Partnership our pupils also have opportunities of taking part in wide range of tournaments throughout the academic year.
