Kestrels (Years 3 & 4) Curriculum 2016-17
Our topic for the summer term is Home Sweet Home, a title generated by a democratic class vote. During this enquiry, we will become scientists, geographers and historians as we learn more about our local environment. We will learn about how plants grow and reproduce, drawing maps, discovering how land-use has changed in Holton over recent years and carrying out fieldwork.
In English, it’s the Summer of Spelling, where we’ll be focusing on our pronunciation and spoken language skills, spelling strategies and even learning a bit of Latin! We’ll be using classic poems and modern books to deepen our understanding of the natural world and our place in it.
In Maths, we’ll be reviewing all of the calculation skills that we have learnt so far and using these to solve real-world problems, whilst also developing our understanding of shape, space and measure.
